Orlando Pirates to face judgement day with Monnapule Saleng

Orlando Pirates have some tough decisions to make.

The Orlando Pirates-Monnapule Saleng saga shows no signs of simmering down. The longer he remains in exile, the higher the chances are of an offseason move.

December 7 was the last time the winger was seen in Buccaneers colours, featuring in a goalless CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly. That was the last day he featured in a league matchday squad.

The debacle surrounds salary demands that the club are unwilling to meet. According to reports, Saleng earns R70,000 monthly, a figure he deems too low for his output. Orlando Pirates are yet to name their price, if any.

With the offseason transfer market fast approaching, so is the fate of Saleng’s future at Orlando Pirates, which seems all but dead and buried. Fans have been left in the dark with the ongoings of this evolving story. The winter window will provide some much-needed clarity.

Judgement day beckons as the odds sway towards an exit rather than rekindling what was once a prosperous relationship.

Mabasa gets more life at Pirates

Orlando Pirates have secured star striker for Tshegofatso Mabasa for a two-year extension. The 28-year-old is on the brink of history as he continues to close the gap to Benedict Vilakazi’s fifty-two-goal club record.

“As we speak now, his contract will run until June 2027,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.

“The club has already exercised the two years on his contract. It’s not a direct extension or a new contract. For now, they have taken up the option they had on the player, and that’s within their rights to do so. His previous contract was coming to an end in June this year.

“What they want to do is try and keep Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa, and Zakhele Lepasa, but they are not ruling out bringing in another striker next season. They have already identified some of the strikers they are targeting,” the source concluded.

Should Orlando Pirates try keep Saleng?
