Orlando Pirates news: Appollis close, Kaizer Chiefs clash confirmed

Orlando Pirates have high-profile fixtures on the horizon, including a meeting with Kaizer Chiefs. Oswin Appollis is also on the agenda.
Oswin Appollis close to joining?
The Sea Robbers’ interest in Oswin Appollis isn’t a big secret. The Polokwane and Bafana winger is also a target for Kaizer Chiefs, but the Buccaneers appear to have beaten Chiefs to his signature.
“Orlando Pirates are close to signing Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City. #UNPLAYABLE can reveal that the deal could be concluded before the end of this week,” a source confirmed.
Is Khanyi worth the fuss for Orlando Pirates?
25-year-old Hungry Lions FC striker Muzomuhle Khanyi is wanted by the PSL title challengers. He is leading the scoring charts in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 11 goals so far in the 2024-2025 campaign. He’s certainly a name to watch in the January transfer window.
“Interest is growing for Muzomuhle Khanyi’s services”, a Siya source confirmed.
Luthuli is on the wish list too
Orlando Pirates took former Chippa star Siphelele Luthuli on trial after he was released and clubless at the start of the season. According to KickOff.com, The Sea Robbers are impressed enough to sign him on a permanent deal. The 29-year-old is versatile in midfield, capable of playing at the base of a diamond if necessary but his preference is to play closer to a striker.
Pirates meet Kaizer Chiefs soon
Orlando Pirates’ focus in January will predominantly be on the Caf Champions League with decisive group clashes against Ivorian outfit Stade d’Abidjan, Algeria’s Belouizdad and reigning African champions Al Ahly from Egypt. Pirates meet Kaizer Chiefs on 01 February at Orlando Stadium at 15:30. It’s certainly a fixture to get in the diary.
