Orlando Pirates wonderkid Relebohile Mofokeng seems destined to become Bafana Bafana’s leading man.
The boy is playing like a man, seamlessly nestling into the Buccaneers frontman role, guiding them to second on the log, steering the Soweto giant towards their best chance of PSL glory in years.
Mofokeng’s talents haven’t gone unnoticed, attracting interest from some of the game’s biggest clubs, from Barcelona to Al Ahly.
Monare on Mofokeng
Sekhukhune United playmaker Thabang Monare noticed the 20-year-old at an early age, and saw his potential from the get-go, telling iDiski Times, “you have no idea but I’d say talent is an understatement – Rele is a gift. As soon as he stepped on the field and I watched him train with us I knew that there is no stopping him,
“He is natural. He is just like that. Whatever he has no one taught him, that’s all he knows. He was born like that,
“I think he is at the right club, he has the right coach and I think that’s why he is getting better every single game,
“And now that he is in the national team and he is doing well, you know the next step could be Europe, a big club in Europe. I’m really proud of that man, very proud.”
Broos talks Mofokeng future
Bafana boss Hugo Broos believes Mofokeng will depart from Orlando Pirates in the offseason, saying, “I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won’t play,
“I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… I’m a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution,
“Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that’s for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that’s the problem. But ok, let’s hope, maybe I talked too soon about that,
“We’ll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.”
