Pirates news: Three clubs want Saleng; R10 million mistake
Orlando Pirates could be Saleng-less before next season commences. The Buccaneers lie second on the log.

Orlando Pirates current season has been a paradox.
It’s been one of their best campaigns since claiming the league title thirteen years ago, winning their opening seven league games and recently edged out Mamelodi Sundowns for the first time in five years (in the league).
However, behind the scenes has been ugly, from Monnapule Saleng to their R10 million flop, Gilberto.
Saleng exit imminent?
The Saleng saga has dragged out for over three months following salary demands the club has yet to accept. A move looks likely in the offseason, and three clubs would love to have him—the former have been monitoring the 27-year-old for a few seasons.

The Pirates winger is distraught about the ongoing negotiations: “He’s struggling. He’s not taking this Pirates thing well. Mentally, he’s not in the best place,” a FARPost source revealed.
Millions down the drain
Orlando Pirates fans would love to see Saleng back in black and white; the same can’t be said for new signing Gilberto, who returned to his former club, Petro de Lunda, on loan five months after joining the Soweto giants.
According to reports, Petro de Lunda could resign the 24-year-old putting an end to his time in South Africa. “Word reaching Phakaaathi is that the powers that be at Orlando Pirates are open to selling Gilberto,” the Citizen reported.
“The attacker still has two years left on his current contract, and Petro is reportedly interested in making the deal to bring him back to the Girabola league a permanent one.”
