Soweto Derby: Orlando Pirates dealt last-minute injury concerns!
Orlando Pirates will be slightly frantic about the latest news coming out of the camp. They play Kaizer Chiefs tomorrow.
Orlando Pirates find themselves scrambling on the eve of the ever-magnetic Soweto Derby.
Both teams will be desperate to walk away with three points, not only for the bragging rights but to maintain their momentum in the league.
For the first time this season, Kaizer Chiefs can make it four wins in a row, following one victory in the five games, showcasing a change in tide for the Soweto side. Their neighbours, Orlando Pirates, can close the gap to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, whom they will face in a weeks time.
Injury concerns
According to IOL Sport, Orlando Pirates’ Olisa Ndah and Paseko Mako are both questionable for the Soweto derby and will be reviewed hours before kick-off.
Kaizer Chiefs were dealt a big blow with Wandile Duba, who is confirmed to be missing the game following a knee injury he sustained.
“He [Duba] went for scanning yesterday and that’s when they (Chiefs doctors) were sure that he will be out for about a month and a half,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“He will actually be out for 42 days. It’s a knee injury. He twisted it and got injured. Very bad, my brother, but 42 days is not that bad though.”
Another source further confirmed the news:
“The team (Chiefs) needed him in this Soweto Derby and him (Duba) as a player also wanted to play and that’s a big blow for the team. But you know, injuries are part of the game. Now he has just to focus on healing and to come back strong.”
