PSL transfer news: Keanu Cupido, Thabo Cele, Basadien, Lorch
Cape Town City’s Keanu Cupido and Stellies defender Fawaaz Basadien are wanted up north. The PSL could be in for a major reshuffle.

The PSL summer window has become a hotspot for business following a quiet start.
Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have led the way in summer signings, luring the likes of Jayden Adams, Tashreeq Morris, and, most recently, Thabo Cele.
Rumours around the league
- Mamelodi Sundowns are monitoring Cape Town City’s Keanu Cupido, who has been instrumental in the team’s latest success, beating Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in successive games.
- Kaizer Chiefs have officially signed Thabo Cele. This will be the 28-year-old’s first taste of the PSL.
- Pirates and Chiefs are losing interest in Stellenbosch star Fawaaz Basadien due to no advancements in negotiations.
- Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring Orlando Pirates legend Thembinkosi Lorch.
More on Lorch
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lifa Gqosha isn’t a fan of AmaKhosi’s approach for Lorch, saying, “Are we becoming a retirement village? It feels like we are turning into an old age home,” said Gqosha.
“Is it possible to build a team with players who are 30 years old and above? I understand the need for experience, but are they not satisfied with the experienced players they already have?
“When building a team, you must invest in youngsters. I’m not questioning Lorch’s abilities, but at his age, how long can he maintain his form?,
“As a player myself, I would take advantage of such opportunities because it is a chance to earn money. Yet, at the same time, there may be a strong desire to play and prove critics wrong complicates the situation,” Gqosha dissected.
“Ultimately, I don’t believe that such a signing would help solve Kaizer Chiefs’ problems. For me, it’s a definite no.”
