The PSL summer window opens between January 1 and 31.

This period will be the last chance for your favourite team to improve their roster before the season concludes.

Rumours around the league

  • Asenele Velebayi looks likely to join Orlando Pirates amid Kaizer Chiefs links. The 21-year-old winger was close to signing with AmaKhosi last winter.
  • Bafana playmaker Percy Tau’s contract with Al Ahly runs out at the end of the season, prompting several clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, to monitor the situation.
  • Lungelo Nguse is another PSL talent catching the Buccaneers’ eye. The club is currently weighing their options between the Golden Arrows striker and Hungry Lions’ standout, Muzomuhle Khanyi.
  • Polokwane City defender Thabang Matuludi is entertaining Chiefs and Pirates offers – the 25-year-old could decide this PSL summer window.
  • Orlando Pirates are hoping to extend Thabiso Monyane’s contract, keeping the 24-year-old right-back in Soweto for the foreseeable future.

Velebayi labels goals

“My peers, the likes of (Rushwin) Dortley, have done well. I don’t see what will stop me from reaching those levels or surpassing them. At the moment, I’m focused on my job at Cape Town Spurs, but that does not mean I don’t think about the future,” PSL superstar Velebayi told FARPost

“What I just avoid is losing focus and affecting my game. I can only pray that we emerge successful as a team. As an individual, I aim to break into Bafana Bafana. Seeing Dortley and Relebohile Mofokeng makes me feel that as youngsters, we are not far.

“I believe that is a big platform for me. We all want to rise, but it’s a process. As a player, the goal is to grow and be a Bafana player. But when interests from bigger teams come, we must be able to deal with the level of attention,” he added.

“I envy what they (Mofokeng and Dortley) are doing at club and national team, and it is something that I also hope to do.”
