REVEALED | Belgian side interested in Bafana international!
The Belgian side that has been looking to compete with Glasgow Rangers for a Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana star is now known!
Mamelodi Sundowns could be braced for a bidding war on one of their Bafana Bafana internationals in striker Iqraam Rayners.
Rayners recently was the subject of interest from Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, with a new club entering the fray.
Just last month this publication revealed that Rangers were looking to bring Rayners in during the January window. It is believed that the Scottish giants had been tracking the striker since his days at Stellenbosch FC. Now having seen him take his game to the next level for both Sundowns and Bafana, they have made a R55 million proposal for his services.
Rayners the subject of interest from Rangers and Belgium
Earlier this week, this publication reported that Rangers would face competition from an unnamed Belgian club. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, that club is SK Beveren.
“The team that has inquired about Iqraam from Belgium is the same team that Ribeiro Costa used to play for (Beveren) and they are also interested in Lucas. But because they feel like it will be hard to get Costa that’s why they have turned to Rayners now. Their scouts are based all over the world and they monitor players they are interested in and now they have inquired about Rayners,” said the first source.
Beveren the club interested in signing him from Sundowns
A second source confirmed Sundowns’ stance on a transfer fee for Rayners. It is clear they will command a big sum from either Beveren or Rangers.
“That R55m was not only meant for Rangers. It’s for any team interested in him. So if the Belgian club is interested in Rayners then they have to meet that offer or even better it. But you know, the Sporting Director is from that side (from Denmark which is near Belgium) so maybe they are talking to him. But the interest and the inquiry has been there,” said the second source.
What should he do next?
Where would you rather see Rayners go? Scottish Premier League with giants Rangers? Or Belgian second tier with Beveren? Or is it better for him to stay out at Sundowns to boost Bafana Bafana? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
