Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be on the verge of signing striker Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United as per reports.

Morris will be involved in a swap deal that will see Christian Saile leave Chiefs for SuperSport on a loan.

Chiefs set to sign Morris while SuperSport get Saile

Reports on this transfer sent shockwaves to the football fraternity on Friday as it came out of nowhere. Saile was expected to join Chippa United in Gqeberha, as Chiefs tried to leverage for the signing of Sinoxolo Kwayiba. Things went quiet on that front and before anybody knew it, Morris and SuperSport entered the conversation. Now while the choice of striker has left Amakhosi fans perplexed, there has been an explanation for it.

On Thursday, Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef revealed the process the club uses to decide on signings.

How they decided he is the right signing

“It’s not a secret. We made it clear when we came here that there were some areas which needed strengthening and that hasn’t changed. To be honest with you from the first day we made it clear about what we need in the team. And every day we meet and see the opportunity of the players we can bring. To bring in a player it depends on a lot of things: Money. The team has to agree. And does the other team agree to make the transfer or not? Budget. Can we do it or not? We also have Tera (Maliwa, the Chief Scout) helping us to prepare a different profile. He knows our modern game so he knows what we need. So it’s takes a lot to bring in a player even if we want (him),” said Youssef as per Soccer-Laduma

So judging from what Youssef said, Chiefs looked at how much it would cost to sign Morris. They then approached SuperSport to see if they would agree to let him go. They would’ve also approached chief scout Tera Maliwa to discuss whether the striker suits the profile needed by the team at the moment. It appears the former Ajax Cape Town man ticked all the boxes and is set to be Khosified.
