Kaizer Chiefs fell to a shocking 2-0 defeat at Richards Bay. Several heads must roll when they face Golden Arrows in a crunch clash.

Chiefs must drop all underperformers

Take your pick from Chiefs’ last outing because a case could be made for dropping the entire starting XI. Based on performances and subs used, here’s how we think the side could line up. Gaston Sirino’s experience and know-how would be vital in a tricky away match such as this. Meanwhile, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo might get another lifeline in midfield with Sibongiseni Mthethwa turning out another underwhelming display. Pule Mmodi could also lose his place. Wandile Duba, just back from injury, and wide man Mfundo Vilakazi are also impact options. It wouldn’t be a surprise if one of those youngsters started. Bradley Cross could be drafted in for Edmilson Dove.

Predicted XI: Bvuma; Solomons, Msimango, Miguel, Cross; Cele, Ngcobo; Lilepo, Shabalala, Sirino; Du Preez.

Reminder of the Chiefs XI to lose 2-0 at Richards Bay

Bvuma; Solomons, Msimango, Miguel, Dove; Mthethwa, Cele; Lilepo, Shabalala, Mmodi; Du Preez.

Subs used: Maart, Sirino, Castillo, Vilakazi, Duba.

Cele is feeling the love

28-year-old Cele, who has supported Chiefs his entire life, arrived at the club in January on a three-year deal. He’s settled well and puts that down to his teammates and surroundings.

“It is the environment and the people that I have found here, my teammates and the technical team,” he said.

“My heart has always been here. I was working for my dreams, and I think something was always going to happen. I feel good … and I want to help the team try and reach its objective.”

“After the defeat (to Richards Bay), there has been a space of observation and thinking and going deep into our minds and hearts,” he added.

“I feel positive about the next game. We have been working very hard and put some new things into our game.”

Could Mayele be joining soon?

According to SoccerLaduma, Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Fiston Mayele could have just received a boost. Reportedly, his current club Pyramids wants to sign Sekhukhune’s 23-year-old striker Andy Boyeli. That move could potentially pave the way for Chiefs to pounce on Mayele. The 31-year-old is renowned for his finishing ability, scoring 31 times and bagging seven assists in 69 appearances for the club.
