Monnapule Saleng’s every move is going under the microscope. Can you remember a time when he almost joined Kaizer Chiefs before Pirates?

Saleng makes Kaizer Chiefs admission

An Amakhosi supporter as a boy, Saleng explained in the Sowetan back in 2022 via SABC Sport: “I should have played for Chiefs because there was a scout from the club who was following me at Free State Stars.

“I don’t know what happened. But in the end, I ended up playing for Pirates… after Chiefs delayed signing me.”

Kaizer Chiefs promote young utility defender

19-year-old utility defence Kabelo Nkgwesa has been promoted to the club’s first-team setup. With Happy Mashiane failing to impress when given a chance at left-back, Bradley Cross is the club’s only genuine option in that position. Edmilson Dove, just back from injury, is the wrong side of 30 and a natural central defender.

Orlando Pirates prep for Hunt’s SuperSport next, stay in title race touch

A first-half injury time goal from Nkosinathi Sibisi helped Jose Riveiro’s Pirates side to an important three points on Wednesday night. They now trail leaders Sundowns by 16 points and have four games in hand. Next up for the Sea Robbers is a Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash at SuperSport on Saturday 08 March at 15:00. Regular goalkeeper Sipho Chaine missed the Chippa clash through suspension but will return at the weekend. Will we potentially see Saleng make a surprise appearance after his withdrawal from the Bafana camp?
