Truth REVEALED: Where is Kaizer Chiefs star Gaston Sirino?
Playmaker Gaston Sirino has been missing from the last few match day squads for Kaizer Chiefs, raising suspicions on his whereabouts…
Kaizer Chiefs have been struggling to score goals this season and have been missing one of their top creators Gaston Sirino.
Chiefs signed Sirino as a free agent after he parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.
Sirino joined Chiefs as a free agent
However, as Chiefs have declined, so has his form with Sirino only having three goal contributions in nine games. He was a live-wire every time he has played for Amakhosi this season, often adding spark to their attacks. He has also combined well and offered good guidance to youngsters Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi. With that stature at the club, you would think it would translate to discipline and being a role model off the field too.
This publication reported last year that Sirino was causing problems at Chiefs. This in the form of faking injuries and misbehaving but still expecting to get game time. It was thought that the club gave him an ultimatum of pulling his socks or being shipped out of the club. His recent absence from the match day squads has also seen suspicions rise.
But now according to FARPost, there is nothing sinister about his absence from the Chiefs team. Sirino is in fact, out with a serious injury.
Currently injured and not punished
“FARPost has learnt that the Uruguayan winger reportedly suffered a fracture that will likely keep him out of action for (for Chiefs) between two weeks and a month. Sirino sustained a fractured rib during the game against Polokwane City after an awkward fall. Research indicates that a broken rib can take up to six weeks to heal naturally. The setback means Sirino will miss the Cape Town City fixture over the weekend. He will also miss the tie against Stellenbosch FC on 8 January and the Golden Arrows one four days later. It is also doubtful he will be available for the Sekhukhune United game later in January.” Wrote the publication.
