Kaizer Chiefs are poised to make their first signing of the January transfer window and its a shock one!

It has been no secret that Chiefs have been searching for a striker to bolster their squad in 2025.

There’s been a long list that features the likes of Fiston Mayele, Clement Mzize, Lungelo Nguse and Ruben del Campo! It was also believed that Chiefs were looking to get rid of DRC attacker Christian Saile to open a foreign spot. Furthermore, it was believed the foreign spot would be kept open for a striker.

Morris set to join Chiefs

It was initially believed that Saile was going to join Chippa, in a swap deal for Sinoxolo Kwayiba. Now it looks like that move won’t happen. This publication reported, however, a swap deal will happen but with SuperSport United. This will see their striker Tashreeq Morris join Chiefs in exchange! Now speaking to FARPost after their 1-0 loss against Polokwane City,  SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt confirmed the move.

“Yeah, he just came in two months ago. Well, for us, you know, obviously it’s a blow, but you know, it’s a great opportunity for him (Going to Chiefs). And you know, I mean, how many players [have left us]? Financially [the move] will help him [Morris], so it is a no-brainer for the boy, so what can I do?” Said Hunt.

Hunt confirms move and Saile signing for SuperSport

Hunt also confirmed the other half of the deal, which sees Saile arrive from Chiefs to replace Morris.

“Yes, he (Saile) is coming in (to SuperSport).” Said Hunt.

Morris is expected to be announced as a Chiefs player imminently after undergoing his medicals already. Should everything go according to plan, and he signs, he won’t be able to play immediately. This due to a two game suspension received from his last game for SuperSport. The 30-year-old has never been a prolific striker in his career. He has never scored five goals in a topflight season. He has just two goals in nine games for Matsatsantsa this campaign.

Amakhosi fans, how are you feeling about the signing of Morris? Is he the striker you need? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
