Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba has explained why he was seen at Kaizer Chiefs headquarters in Naturena in June.

The 28-year-old visited Naturena following his departure from Racing Strasbourg. At the time, it was speculated that Mothiba would join Amakhosi as a free agent having never played in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Speaking to FARPost, the Bafana star, said he and his brother established an agency in South Africa to scout and develop young talent for European clubs.

“I have an agency now in South Africa,,” Mothiba told the publication.

“It’s me and my brother … but we work with the boss himself, Ludo, my agent.”

Since leaving Strasbourg, Mothiba has been without a club. The Bafana Bafana striker though said he was only meeting with Kaizer Chiefs to present his agency and was not looking to join the Soweto giants.

“That’s why I was at the [Kaizer Chiefs] village; I went there to present the agency and who I’m working with. When I was there, I told them why I was there.

“While I was there, we got to speak to Ludo, and he told them who he was. After that, I saw everywhere that Lebo was at the Village, and it’s a done deal.”

Mothiba left his French team earlier this year following a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for a lengthy period.

“Right now, I would say the injury is finished, and I’m done with rehabilitation. I am back. I’m 100 per cent fit,” he said.

Despite being out of contract, Mothiba revealed he is still training with Strasbourg.

“I’m 100% back. I have no pain in my knee, even after my training sessions, because I’m still training with Strasbourg, doing everything with Strasbourg with the team.”

With Kaizer Chiefs looking for a striker, it might not be a bad idea to attempt to sign the Bafana star. The lanky striker has scored four goals for the national team.
