Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou lauded the efforts of Welshman Brennan Johnson, who got back to scoring ways with his twin-strike for the Spurs against Southampton in their 3-1 triumph on Sunday.
Johnson, who experienced a blazing hot streak of seven games on the trot with the 23-year-old finding the back of the net in 2024 for the Spurs was followed by an injury he picked up in January. Postecoglou expressed his delight with the Welshman back in scoring touch following his side’s win over the Saints, which pushed Southampton to relegation from the English top-flight.

“I was really pleased for him, not just goals but his general (play) was really good," Postecoglou said.
“He’s important for us. As a wide player, there aren’t many around that are a constant goal threat like he is," he continued.
“With Brennan, he’s always in the areas we need him to be. He’s probably one of the most disciplined players we have in terms of making sure he’s always in the right positions and that’s why he gets his goals," the Australian added.

Johnson put an end to an eight-game scoreless streak with the double, the first of which came in the 13th minute before he added another in the 42nd minute of the first half to give his side the two-goal advantage.
“There have been times this season when his form has suffered because of the team more than anything else," the 59-year-old said..
“I think like we played in the first half, Brennan becomes a really important player for us as we’re a constant threat, breaking lines, making half-space runs, we were getting balls into the box in the areas we need to and every time we went forward we looked like scoring," the Spurs gaffer added.
